A popular blog named Youngendyblog in port Harcourt has it that, The C.E.O Of Port Harcourt To The World In A Press Release This Morning, Have announced the organizations withdrawal from supporting Pageantry in Rivers State, See Reasons below: 👇

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
PORT HARCOURT TO THE WORLD WITHDRAWS SUPPORT FOR BEAUTY PAGEANT ORGANIZERS IN RIVERS STATE.

Since the Birth of the Port Harcourt To The World Campaign in 2016, we've been deliberately dedicated to supporting individuals, businesses, and mainly events to the best of our ability to see that the world gets to hear about them and above all, the fact that they are made & happening in Port Harcourt.

In our own rights, we've tried to foster a belief amongst our creative minds; that they can be world class from anywhere in the world, especially Port Harcourt, a city in need of new and futuristic ideas for its growth, hence the need to stay back and build their craft.

In the last 3 years, we have supported over 100 events in our dear city, and have no plans to stop doing our best. We do this because we believe the Entertainment Industry holds the future our dear Rivers State and that if the Entertainment Industry Prospers; Unemployment would be crushed, Insecurity would be history, and our City would be a haven for foreign investors.

We believe Sending out Positive images and stories from Port Harcourt to the world would educate the world on the existence of an alternative narrative, unlike what the press has deliberately fed them for Political gain.

We've focused on telling them that Port Harcourt is the Garden City of Nigeria,
• is a city inhabited by creative and hardworking youths,
•a city where freedom of religion thrives,
•a city where People love to have fun, a city without tribal sentiments(where everyone speaks the common language. English),
•a city saturated by Musical, Comic, Educational, Fashion/Beauty, Cultural, religious and Food Events,
•a city blessed with scores of delicacies, and above all,
•a City where the Taste of Bole and Fish is a taste of Heaven.

This boom in the Entertainment industry is not without its own pitfalls.
With the influx of Event Organizers from outside the state and the awakening of residents in it, the desire to put up numerous events have become a norm.

This directive specifically points to the Pageantry sector of the industry; Our research records over 40 pageantries peculiar to our dear City. As much as this is meant to be celebrated as a significant success in the industry, we can no longer turn blind eyes from the unscrupulous elements that have used this scheme as a Money Making venture at the detriment of unsuspecting hopefuls whose dreams hinge on becoming the next big thing in the modeling industry.

Our investigations have shown that some of these pageantries make juicy Promises on their adverts to attract contestants, then use them to attract sponsors, sell tickets, earn royalties from courtesy visits, which is good but for the fact that they end up not awarding promised prizes to the winners... and in most cases, these contestants are helpless as they have no binding document with the organizers, or are "forced" to sign one (probably unfavorable) without reading, just moments before climbing the stage on the finale.

Some even go as far as Making the Prizes physically available for public viewing and record purposes but do not give the winners in the end. ...and to crown it all, these winners are not sponsored to carry out their pet projects which are intended for the good of mankind and the society at large. Therefore defeating the purpose of what the pageantry stands for.

In Reaction to the cries of many victims over the years, and the sad reality of no existing or functioning regulatory body for this purpose, and ultimately because our policy tilts towards Promoting legitimacy and protecting the vulnerable, we have decided to take this stand;
WE WILL NO LONGER SUPPORT OR ENDORSE ANY PAGEANTRY EVENT UNLESS THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE MET:

 1. PROOF OF REGISTRATION OF ORGANISATION BY CAC.
 2. EVIDENCE OF AVAILABILITY OF PRIZES.
 3. EVIDENCE OF REDEMPTION OF PRIZES TO PREVIOUS WINNERS.
 4. PROOF OF "PET" PROJECTS CARRIED OUT BY PREVIOUS WINNERS.
 5. PROOF OF DOCUMENT/CONTRACT BINDING CONTESTANTS TO PAGEANTRY ORGANISATION.

As much as the prime purpose of our organization is to Promote Port Harcourt positively, we are also tasked as a body under the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to uphold fairness, integrity, and poise... and that we will do, to the best of our ability.

Cheers
