According to latest reports in Metro, Arsenal top target, Matthijs de Ligt only wants to move to Barcelona and has reportedly told his agent Mino Raiola to forget about any other possible destinations.

Dutch footballer Matthijs de Ligt poses with his trophy after winning the best Under 21 European footballer Golden Boy 2018 award, organised by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport, during a ceremony in Turin on December 17, 2018.

Several of Europe’s top clubs are chasing the Ajax star, with Arsenal and Manchester City tipped to make a move for De Ligt. Arsenal were considered favourite at some point but it now looks like a move to Premier League is not feasible according to lastest reports.

Ajax Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt (R) and Manchester United’s English striker Marcus Rashford vie for the ball during the UEFA Europa League final football match Ajax Amsterdam v Manchester United on May 24, 2017 at the Friends Arena in Solna outside Stockholm.

Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been credited with a transfer interest, as De Ligt has established himself as one of the world’s brightest talents in the last 12 months.

But in talks with his agent, Raiola, De Ligt has made it clear he only wants to join Barcelona, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Raiola, whose impressive client list includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, is renowned across the footballing world as one the most expensive agents to deal with.

But De Ligt, 19, has told his agent he has no interest in a big-money move and is not motivated by financial gain.

The news will come as a blow to De Ligt’s other suitors, with Unai Emery reportedly a massive fan of the centre-back.

Emery will not have a massive transfer kitty to play with in the summer, but thought De Ligt could be the answer to his side’s defensive woes, despite Ajax setting a £70million asking price.

Arsenal will have up to £100m to spend on signings if Emery delivers Champions League football and raises some funds through player outgoings.
